Stories of Hope
Behind every meal or case file here at HOPE is a story and a precious life. Our heart is to serve people’s souls and put them on a path to holistic life-change. Hearing and sharing their stories is crucial to understanding the homelessness crisis and key to true compassionate care. These are just some of the countless stories that have unfolded here at HOPE. Together, we believe every story can be touched by HOPE.
Story of HOPE – Family of 8
When you’re employed but struggling with one financial crisis after the next, meeting basic necessities for your family of 8 can become an uphill battle.
The Waller Family was experiencing just that when they first came to HOPE South Florida. After the arrival of their newborn, they were experiencing homelessness and urgently needed safe housing that could accommodate their whole family so no one would be split up. Our quadplex was the refuge they needed in their time of crisis, but the Wallers didn’t stop there.
Mr. Waller worked hard to regain financial stability. And with the help of their Family Advocate here at HOPE, the Wallers were soon able to secure their own apartment. They moved in during the midst of the Holiday Season and enjoyed the miracle of waking up in their own home, all together on Christmas morning.
“HOPE picked us up at just the right time,” said Mr. Waller.

Story of HOPE – Family Advocate
*Britany came to HOPE South Florida looking for resources to help her family get back on their feet and into a home they could sustain. She worked eagerly with her HOPE South Florida Family Advocate to gain greater independence and eventually a place they could call home. Britany recently shared with her Family Advocate, “We want to thank you and express immense gratitude for how much of a blessing you and HOPE have been to my family. You guys stepped in during an extremely difficult time. During a time at which we felt almost as if there was no light at the end of the tunnel. We cannot thank you enough.”
