Day Respite Center

The Day Respite Center operates from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday though Friday to receive and assist unsheltered homeless families (parent/s with dependent children who meet the HUD definition of homeless). A warming kitchen is available for meal preparation and a Wellness Center is in place and is operated by Holy Cross Hospital. The Day Respite Center includes Internet access, computers, a wide-screen television and cable, and a reading library with books and magazines. The Center accommodates toys, games and enrichment activates for children. Nutritious light breakfasts and lunches are provided, other off-site, scattered-site shared evening and weekend meals are also facilitated by HOPE South Florida. Free coffee, juices and snacks will be provided throughout the day along with social, recreational & spiritual enrichment activities. Transportation is provided using a combination of bus passes and agency owned passenger vans. Showers will be provided on a schedule using our mobile showers unit. In-reach will include coordination with existing outreach teams and other social service agencies that will be invited to link unsheltered homeless families with housing, shelter and other community and children’s resources. Assistance is also provided with obtaining identification and receiving mail. Participants also have limited access to a washer and dryer, & a clothing closet.
