Our History

In 1995, local veterinarian Dr. Fred Scarbrough began a housing ministry called The Shepherd's Way in Broward County.

In 2010, The Shepherds Way became HOPE South Florida with the support of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Christ Church, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, First Presbyterian, Mt. Bethel, Rio Vista Community Church, and United Methodist Church.

By 2016, HOPE expanded to include Shared Meals, Mobile Showers, Medical Care, and Rapid Rehousing.

In 2023, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale announced its expanded partnership to further propel HOPE South Florida.
