Autumn is a season that brings plenty of change and new beginnings, and that has certainly been the case for us this year at HOPE South Florida.
This fall, we’ve made massive strides toward our goal of being able to support and encourage more families in Broward County, and it’s all thanks to the generosity and kindness of people like you.
Here’s a look at the incredible milestones we’ve met this season and how you can partner with us to make even more meaningful change in our South Florida community.
Night of HOPE 2nd Annual Fundraiser
This month, our community came together for our 2nd Annual Night of HOPE Fundraiser to celebrate the work our team has accomplished to support families experiencing situational housing insecurity in Broward County.
The evening was filled with joy and laughter, and two young women were able to share their stories about how HOPE has helped their families and transformed their lives in a meaningful way.
Nakietrice Allen, a mother who was one of the first community members to participate in our Family Safe Parking program, opened up about how her relationship with Patricia, a HOPE Family Advocate, helped her access the assistance she needed.
“It was very good to have someone to talk to, someone to relate to,” Allen said. “[Patricia] told me her background story as well and she was just so open, it was easy to be open with her about everything, and she was so helpful. My son also has autism, so she helped me through a bunch of stuff. She gave me a bunch of resources, and she was very helpful. Very, very helpful.”
Allen now returns to the parking lot where she once stayed with hope to help and serve other families in need.
Thelicienne Nonombra, whose family received their first eviction notice when she was a junior in high school, also shared her experience with HOPE.
She explained, “My mom is disabled, and she’s paralyzed on her left side, and she was taking care of five adults and a teenager and a young kid by herself. So through HOPE South Florida, they provided food services, they helped my siblings get jobs because they didn’t have jobs.”
“They helped me and my mom,” she continued. “…And most importantly, they gave us a place to stay because we didn’t have nowhere to go, and they helped us. So we were there for a good few months, and we also lost our Section 8 because of the eviction, but through their team and their hard work, we got our Section 8 back and so we were able to start over again because of their program.”
Now, Nonombra’s life has been transformed through the support she received from HOPE. Since obtaining housing security, she’s been able to dream about the future and plans to attend college. In her daily life, she is now able to devote more attention to church, work and her personal relationships instead of constantly worrying about receiving another eviction notice.
$200K Campaign
During Night of HOPE, we also officially kicked off our $200k Campaign, our latest and boldest fundraising initiative to raise $200,000 before December 1, 2026. We’re more than halfway toward our goal, but still need some additional support from our generous community so we can continue advocating for the community God has entrusted to us.
These funds help us continue offering services like these, as well as others. If you’d like to join us in our work toward supporting struggling families in South Florida, please help.
Over the past year, we’ve made significant progress in expanding our impact throughout Broward County. From breaking ground on our Homes of HOPE transitional housing initiative to the continued growth and success of our Family Safe Parking program since its launch in December 2025, we’re creating more opportunities for families experiencing housing instability to stay together and move toward lasting stability.
How You Can Help
If you want to help us meet our goal in our $200K Campaign, any amount can help make a big impact for the families we serve.
$250 provides enough gas for a family to keep them going to work and school.
$1,000 helps a family afford basic utilities, like electricity.
$30,000 provides one year of rental assistance for a family in need, and $75,000 fund the salary of a HOPE family advocate for one year.
Homeless is a chapter in someone’s life, not their whole story. Help them turn the page by donating now.
